A Dress Code Design
The Coquette Baguette uses the following dress code system to help navigate what ensemble you should wear to enjoy breakfast spots and goodies with each applicable review. Each code below contains a mini-style vignette to help you get dressed in the morning.
1| High Glam Dress Code: Don’t get dressed, get styled. This gem is ideal for treating yourself – splurge a little…get dressed up for breakfast! Your look is decadent and so is your breakfast. You won’t soon forget this morning experience. Think heels, a frilly morning dress, and a super chic bag.
2| Romantic Siren Dress Code: You love to make breakfast an ‘experience’ and this romantic little find calls for a romantic little number. Throw on an unexpected flirty accessory for sipping on that extra hot Chai Latte. Comfy and cozy best describes your vibe, which is perfectly suited for this mellow and romantic breakfast nookie. Think flirty romper, sexy sandals, and stacked bracelets.
3|Chic n’ Conquer Dress Code: The quintessential spot for the busy mom, career woman, and MAC laptop fanatic. You love a good eat fast, yet never compromise on flavor…or your style. You understand that staying fit always starts with a good balanced breakfast…and yours is always right on trend like your wardrobe. Think boyfriend jeans, comfy statement flats, and messenger bag.
DINING ON DIOR
It’s no wonder I had a baby boy; I’ve always been attracted to beautiful shades of blue. Although my favorite color is white, blue always seems to make an appearance in my wardrobe ~ especially on the eyes these days.
Your morning makeup often reflects the amount of time you get for yourself. As a busy bee, I rarely get the time to play with makeup so I love having the option for a clean and pretty look one day, and a more dramatic mix the next (when time is on my side). That’s why I adore shadow compacts and this NEW one byDior, inspired by Mr. Dior’s iconic 1947 collection, is a true standout in my makeup arsenal.
No. 1 The 5 Couleurs Palette in Bleu de Paris offers the perfect shades of blue grey, smoke and what I like to call a ‘midnight with a touch of eggplant’ (great for lining your eyes). I love the flexibility of this compact and the way it looks just so chic in my cosmetic cabinet. It makes my morningtime a little extra special. No. 2 My other current fave is Dior Skin Flash Primer for a quick, dewy makeup look (comes in a universal color everyone can use); No.3 Diorshow Extase Mascarafantastic for making your eyes look fresh and awake (provides an immediate falsie lash look without being difficult to remove at nighttime as other mascaras); No. 4 Dior Varnis in Gris Montaigne 707 because grey is a nice compliment to blue– you don’t want to be too matchy-matchy; And No. 5 Dior Crème de Gloss in Beige Elixir 611 round up this month’s makeup bag moment.
Play a little. Visit your favorite makeup counter to try these babies out.

Fashion for Breakfast
We all do it. We get dressed in the morning and ponder the active to-do list on the day’s agenda…but for the stylishly smart, there’s always a way to sneak in a vivacious snack n’ sip to get you going while looking effortlessly glam. I always tend to feel more productive when I’m ‘put together’ and with something substantial in my tummy…I can’t function if I’m hungry. Looking polished and eating a good breakfast starts you on the right path; feeling like you can tackle life’s fashionable (and unfashionable) need-to-do’s. Below, find some of my fave morning beauty, fashion and breakfast inspirations to start your day off on the right heel.
I love a bold red lip for breakfast. Don’t be afraid of wearing this sexy hue in the early morn. You may think the color requires too much maintenance, but the opposite is true. Tap on Sheen Supreme Lipstick in New Temptation by MACcoupled with MAC’s Cherry Lip Pencil and throw on some Nicole Richie-esque frames and you’re glam in a pinch. Why this color? Why this MAC product? This shade works on almost everyone and the texture and technology of this lip product provides long-lasting color without drying out your lips. (Bold lips courtesy ofsweetcaroline-a-.tumblr). I just adore a good bag at breakfast. The satchel at top with brushed gold embellishment is no exception. Makes you giddy staring at such a work of art while sipping on your morning beverage (Breakfast/Fashion image curtesy of Favim.com).
Breakfast at Tiffany’s of course serves as a classic staple for breakfast girls across the globe. A quilted bag always screams subtle elegance especially when married with a chic gold chain (yes, that’s why we all love Chanel). Pair your look with black petal pushers and a white blazer, chic ballerina slippers or kitten heels, add large rimmed glasses and you’re an instant ’starlet’ at your breakfast debut with a colleague, friend, romantic partner or just your cute self – it’s nice to treat yourself to a breakfast date now and again (and by DATE, I mean YOU and a decadent stack of BLUEBERRY PANCAKES). Tour de Park Ridge
Do you live in the Chicago land area and crave delectable taste offerings with distinct options in the savory and sweet department? Read on for two tempting solutions in nearby Park Ridge. This quaint little town offers more than just the Pickwick Theatre and super cute boutiques. The town where Hillary Clinton hailed from offers some delicious and memorable breakfast options for the whole family.
In the market for French-inspired faire? Head to nearby Park Ridge, IL where an irresistible, little café is whipping up some of the dreamiest concoctions ever to hit a crêpe.
Cream of the Crepe located at 8 South Northwest Highway fires up mouthwatering, savory and sweet collections designed to tempt your senses and taste buds the minute you enter its charming little door.
This breakfast boutique also serves lunch, but as my readers know, it’s all about the morning munchies.
The Rise and Shine complete with eggs, bacon and your choice of mozzarella, Swiss or cheddar will have you drooling the moment your crêpe hits the pan. My son and I loved this selection – big enough to share! We also sampled the Funky Monkey complete with fresh bananas and creamy hazelnut spread. Gooey, but not too filling, and not too sweet. The fruit and chocolate hazelnut spread were proportioned just right. I recommend you order this dish without the powdered sugar on top.
Other unique savory and sweet options include the Banana-Berry with fresh strawberries nestled inside a banana and berry sauce, The Blueberry Cheese Crepe complete with homemade blueberry sweet cheese, blueberries and graham crackers and the Sweetheart with fresh strawberries and hazelnut spread.
To complete your visit, order a nice cup of Lavazza coffee or try their homemade gelato. This breakfast lover will be back for more in the near future.
Another idyllic treat is neighboring Le Peep, which focuses on wholesome varieties on a larger scale.
For starters, a steaming pot of coffee greets you at your table while the aroma of a big, hearty breakfast drifts in from the kitchen. Juicy breakfast meats sizzle teasingly, while simmering sauces beckon you to have a taste.
Located at 100 South Euclid, this mainstay has been pleasing breakfast lovers for years.
For starters, you may want to try the Gooey Buns, an English muffin broiled with brown sugar, cinnamon and almonds. Served with cream cheese and “Mom’s” Sassy Apples. Or try the Breakfast Banana Split with bananas, succulent strawberries, rich granola and vanilla yogurt.
Next up, sample the Sweetie Pie Skillet with diced sweet potatoes, onions, and chopped ham, served under a blanket of Swiss cheese and two basted eggs or their Le Omelet Collection, designed to let you craft your own creation with whole eggs or egg whites, a selection of cheeses, breakfast carvings, tomatoes, peppers, spinach ,etc – and even cream cheese.
But no breakfast would be complete without Le Coffee and this establishment conjures up quite the collection— serving espresso, cappuccino, lattes, and Carmel Macchiato melting over with creamy caramel, espresso, steamed milk and a dollop of whipped cream. There’s also the option of the Cinnamon Roll Latte for those with a sweet tooth— complete with hazelnut, cinnamon, espresso and steamed milk. Fresh squeezed juice rounds up the variety, with distinct smoothies for your morning fruit lovers. Try the Strawberry Fields filled with bananas, strawberries, and apple juice or the Chuck Berrie oozing with blueberries, bananas and strawberries. All tasty options designed to keep you coming back for more.
